Material Characterization Systems – PPMS

Cryo-free technology available on all systems

Quantum Design is a leading manufacturer of user-friendly, automated material
characterization systems for the fundamental science research communities.
We offer four major product lines with capabilities from 50 mK to 1000 K and
magnetic fields up to 16 Tesla.

                   Physical property measurement system (PPMS)
The PPMS represents a unique concept in laboratory equipment: an open architecture, variable
temperature-field system, designed to perform a variety of automated measurements. The PPMS can
be used with specifically designed options or easily adapted to integrate into your existing experimental
setup. Sample environment controls include magnetic fields up to ± 16 Tesla and a temperature range
MATERIALS SCIENCE PPMS Dynacool – Cryogen-free PPMS measurement system
of 1.9 – 1000 K. Its advanced extendable design combines many features in one instrument to make the
PPMS the most versatile system of its kind.

The DynaCool system uses a two-stage Pulse Tube cooler to not only cool the superconducting magnet
but also provide the cooling for the temperature control system and the internal thermal shield. Utilizing
a new approach to cryocooler equipment design, the DynaCool system employs a new He-based
temperature control system and gas flow technology.

                   VersaLab – Cryogen free VSM
VersaLab is a portable cryogen-free cryocooler based vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) designed
for high sensitivity magnetic characterization of materials up to 3 Tesla. The instrument covers a wide
experimental temperature range of 50 to 400 K. Various additional options for electrical and thermal
                   measurements are available.
